Burlington Capital Management Ltd. ("Burlington") is the Investment Advisor to the BluMont Core Hedge Fund and Co-Manager of the BluMont Canadian Opportunities Fund.

Burlington was established in September 2004 by Allan Brown and Geoff Barth who identified a void in the Canadian hedge fund industry to which they bring a new level of expertise. Burlington’s investment style utilizes a qualitative, bottom-up approach to portfolio construction with a focus on pairs trading.

Allan Brown and Geoff Barth spent the early part of their careers in the mutual fund industry and understand the unpredictable nature of equity markets. They learned that despite how much research managers do and how well they ‘pick stocks’, long only funds are susceptible to market downturns. On the other hand, Mr. Brown & Mr. Barth believe that hedge funds, because of their ability to short stocks, provide managers with a mechanism to ‘isolate’ their stock picking ability and to reduce the impact the market can have on their investment portfolio.

Allan Brown, MBA, CFA

Mr. Brown is CEO of Burlington Capital Management Ltd. and Co-Manager of the BluMont Core Hedge Fund and the BluMont Canadian Opportunities Fund.

Prior to co-founding Burlington Capital Management Ltd. with Mr. Geoffrey Barth in September 2004, Mr. Brown co-founded Zinc Capital Management LLC, a New York based long/short equity hedge fund firm in May, 2003.  From August, 2000 to October, 2002 Mr. Brown was Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at AIC Ltd.  At AIC, Mr. Brown was co-manager of four sector series mutual funds.  Prior to joining AIC, Mr. Brown was a Partner and Portfolio Manager with Investors Group where he managed the Investors Summa Fund, one of the largest Canadian Equity funds in the country.  Under his management tenure the fund grew from $230 million to over $3 billion in assets and achieved a Morningstar 5-star rating. 

Geoff Barth, CFA

Mr. Barth is President of Burlington Capital Management Ltd. and Co-manager of the BluMont Core Hedge Fund and BluMont Canadian Opportunities Fund.

Prior to co-founding Burlington Capital Management Ltd., Mr. Barth co-founded Zinc Capital Management LLC, a New York based long/short equity hedge fund in May, 2003, where he was a Partner and Portfolio Manager. Prior to this, Mr. Barth was Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at AIC Ltd. where he co-managed four sector series mutual funds focused on the Science & Technology sectors. Prior to AIC, Mr. Barth was Partner and Portfolio Manager with Investors Group where Mr. Barth both solely managed and co-managed a number of mutual funds including one of the largest Canadian small cap funds, the largest science & technology fund in the country, a Canadian balanced fund, two Canadian equity funds, and a U.S. large cap growth fund.
