Gap risk

Refers to the risk that the price of a security will move sharply without any accompanying volume or trading activity.

General partner

The only partner in a limited partnership that faces unlimited liability. The General Partner is often the manager of the day-to-day activities of the partnership.

Global macro

An investment strategy that bases it’s portfolio holdings, primarily on overall economic and political views of various countries (macroeconomic principles).

Gross exposure

The total of a fund's long and short positions in relation to the assets of the fund. For example, if the fund is 80% long and 50% short, then the fund is 130% gross invested.

Growth stocks

Shares in a company whose earnings are expected to grow at an above average rate relative to the market. A growth stock usually does not pay a dividend, as the company would prefer to reinvest retained earnings in capital projects.
